Fighting out of Curitiba, Brazil, Mauricio Shogun is a 34 year old Brazilian fighter with a great MMA record. He was Pride Champion in 2005, winning the title after beating Ricardo Arona. Throughout his career he has been great Fighters like Quinton Jackson, Minotouro, Alistair Overeem, Kevin Randleman, Mark Coleman, Chuck Liddell, Lyoto Machida, among other famous fighters.

Shogun is known for his great Muay Thai skills and is a product of the famous Chute Boxe Academy, by legendary masters Rudimar Fedrigo and Rafael Cordeiro. He is also a Jiu-Jitsu black belt fighter. The Brazilian is extremely dedicated and mentally strong in the octagon. To give you an idea, in the last four fights he won 3 prizes: 2 fights of the night and a knockout of the night. His fight against Ben Anderson in 2011 was both fight of the night and fight of the year. He was awarded these prices for putting up great fights, even in combats which he was losing, putting out great performances with fabulous counter-attacks. Therefore, we believe Shogun will not be knocked out in the first round. However, he is now a more cautious fighter, who studies the opponent and doesn't take as many chances as used to.

Corey Anderson is a 26 year old American fighter, specializing in boxing and wrestling. He has a much shorter MMA career than the opponent. Corey became famous after winning the Ultimate Fighter reality show by beating Matt Van Buren in the final.

He has fought 5 times in the UFC so far. His victory over Fabio Maldonado (AKA “Caipira de Aço”) stands out. It's important to notice that his fights were decided by the judges’ cards, with the exception of one fight, which ended in the third round after he knocked out Gian Villante.

Corey Anderson has proven that he isn't a fighter with great knockout power. Moreover, Shogun has the home advantage and should be motivated by the support of his fans. He will not be taken down easily and we believe that he will not be knocked out in the first round. However, he shouldn’t knockout his opponent in the first round either, since he is now a more cautious fighter that doesn't take as many chances as he used to. He should wait for an opportunity and will not rush the win.
