The start date for registration is set for December 3, and the process continues with online qualification until January 2021. The qualifiers for the teams are scheduled to take place between February 15 and March 3. The live finals, in principle, are scheduled for the months of March and April.

The ePremier League finals will again be broadcast live via Sky Sports, Premier League and EA SPORTS FIFA Twitch. In the past two seasons, decisions have hit more than 22 million people watching.

The EA SPORTS FIFA video game series is one of the key channels through which fans all over the world can engage with Premier League clubs and players. We are looking forward to another edition of ePremier League after the first two seasons delivered some thrilling entertainment (...).” - said Will Brass, the commercial director of the Premier League.

Brass also added: “ePremier League is a great platform for players of all abilities and a real mix of competitors have progressed to the final stages of both tournaments so far. This includes some of the highest-ranked professional FIFA-gamers in the world and relatively inexperienced players who have proved they can take on the very best.”

The first edition of the competition was won by the number one Xbox One player, Donovan “Fnatic Tekkz” Hunt, representing Liverpool FC. The last edition was won by Thomas “Hashtag Tom” Leese, representing the Watford team.
It meant a lot for me to be crowned the 2019/20 ePremier League champion as it is one of the most prestigious tournaments on the professional FIFA circuit and it was the first major trophy of my career.” said Tom.
Residing in the UK and being 16 years of age or older, anyone can participate. The competition will be played on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The winner of the tournament, in addition to winning a trophy, takes home the grand prize of £ 40,000.

Popularity of eSports

Sam Turkbas, FIFA Deputy Commissioner, commented: “EA SPORTS FIFA esports popularity has the strongest momentum of all time and a key accelerator in its growth is through the power of its accessibility and authenticity. ePremier League gives competitors the opportunity to fulfil their dreams by representing one of their favourite clubs on the virtual pitch”.

The ePremier League has evolved during this 2019/20 season, including the ePL Invitational tournament during the football shutdown due to the pandemic. Thus, different professional football players and different celebrities played with the names of 20 teams participating in the English Championship.

Two editions were broadcast on five continents, with Wolverhampton player Diogo Jota and Leicester City's James Maddison as the champions.

The eSports world had been growing year after year, but with the worldwide shutdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this market grew even more quickly and surprisingly.
